WATERLOO - Richard Michael Vollenweider, 60, of Shawnee, Kan., formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Shawnee.

He was born Sept. 29, 1945, in Waterloo, son of Earl and Florence Vollenweider. He married Victoria Wilson in 1968.

Mr. Vollenweider served in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1966 and in 1971 graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He worked as an engineer for the Illinois Central and Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific railroads and most recently as a revenue officer for the IRS.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Douglas (Melissa) and Robert; two granddaughters, Chloe and Gillian; two sisters, Sandra Woodard and Marge Everett; a brother, Joseph; and numerous relatives and friends around the country.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James; and a sister, Carol.

Celebration of life: 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kan. He donated his body to the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Memorials may be directed to Powell Gardens in his behalf, in lieu of flowers.
