JESUP - Donald P. Youngblut, 69, of Jesup, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo.
He was born Sept. 26, 1944, in Waterloo, son of Raphael Nicholas “Ray” and Cleo Elizabeth Kane Youngblut. He married Linda Lou Delagardelle on Sept. 17, 1966, at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.
He graduated from Don Bosco High School, Gilbertville, in 1962, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Don was a self-employed cattle broker and also retired in 1994 from John Deere in Waterloo, where he was a forklift operator. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, and UAW Local 838 in Waterloo.
Survived by his wife; a son, Eugene of La Porte City; two daughters, Jana (Mike) Johnson and Brenda Youngblut, both of Jesup; three grandchildren, Tyler, Trina and Joshua Johnson; four brothers, Joe (Betty) and Marv, both of Jesup, Dave (Kim) of Raymond and Alan (Kathy) of Evansdale; five sisters, Connie (Carl) Kass of Independence, Jackie (Bob) Kresser and Sandy (Lonnie) Even, both of Jesup, Kris (Joe) Vogel of Waterloo and Gin (Bart) Vogel of Fairbank; and a sister-in-law, Mary Youngblut of Jesup.
Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Leanne Youngblut; his parents; and two brothers, Laverne in infancy and Leroy.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Nugent-Demuth American Legion Post 714 of Gilbertville. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 4 p.m. parish rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
