WATERLOO - Charles E. "Chuck" Denning, 77, of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center from complications of an aortic aneurysm in the abdomen.

He was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Eldora, son of William J. and Margaret M. Foes Denning. He married Nancy "Nan" Ruth Howard on Dec. 22, 1952, in Iowa City.

Mr. Denning graduated from Boone High School, Boone, and attended the University of Iowa, studying business. He was employed as a savings analyst buyer for John Deere, where he was employed for 26 years, retiring in 1984. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War achieving the rank of first lieutenant. He was a member of Black Hawk County Chapter of Pheasants Forever (ticket coordinator) and member of the Cedar Valley Bass Masters.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Corynne (Robert Jr.) Edgerton of Cedar Falls, Dawn (Steve) Gunderson of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Ann Rule of Galveston, Texas; a son, Michael (Jenny) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 14 grandchildren and a great-grandson; a brother, William J.; and two sisters, Alice Gentry and Norma Jean Meehan.

Preceded in death by a brother, Jim; and three sisters, Margaret Quisenberry, Sally Morrison and Etta Mae.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Grace Brethren Church, with burial in Orange Township Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Pheasants Forever or Cedar Valley Bass Masters.
