WATERLOO - Leland Dean Stephens, 78, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Independence, son of Dale and Blanche Miller Stephens. He married Elsie Stoner on July 5, 1980.

Mr. Stephens was an over-the-road trucker for 43 years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark of Wisconsin; four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Junior Stephens of Bristol, Tenn.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Marie Stephens; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Lois.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Garden of Memories mausoleum, with burial in the cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home and for an hour before services Thursday at the mausoleum.
