WATERLOO - Paul Herman Riggert, 87, of Green Valley, Ariz., formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, in Green Valley after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Allison, son of Chris and Louise Voigts Riggert. He married Arlene Busch on Feb. 1, 1948.

Paul served in the Navy on Okinawa in World War II. He received his graduate degree in education from Drake University, and served as an elementary school principal for 30 years with the Waterloo Public Schools.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Paula (Doug Stevens) of Seattle and Virginia (Ed Mason) of Katy, Texas; and a grandchild, Lincoln Grismer of Seattle.

Memorial service was held April 26 at Desert Hills Lutheran Church.

Paul and Arlene moved to Green Valley in 1985 where they enjoyed an active retirement.
