Doris May Knupp, 83, of Dysart, died at home Saturday, April 26, 2014.

She was born May 29, 1930, in Waterloo, daughter of Paul and Erna Diercks Knupp. She married Robert Knupp on Feb. 12, 1950. He preceded her in death.

Doris graduated from Denver High School in 1948, and she and her husband farmed, moving into Dysart in 1985.

Survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Stan) Ames of Portland, Ore.; three sons, Kevin of Huntsville, Ala., and Mike (Amy) and Jeff (Marcia) Knupp, both of Dysart; nine grandchildren, Andy Knupp, Tony Knupp, Jared Ames, Logan Ames, Brooke Knudten, Kolby Knupp, Sam Knupp, Matthew Knupp and Maryanne Knupp; six great-grandchildren, Nolan Knupp, Carter Knupp, Wyatt Ames, Isabella Tharp, Kylie Knudten and Caitlin Knudten; a sister, Kathy (Don) Reuter of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Loren (Peggy) Matthias of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Arthur (Sally) Matthias of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Linda Matthias and Irene Wieck; and a brother-in-law, Leroy Platte.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Roger Matthias; and a sister, Nancy Platte.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Dysart, with burial in Dysart Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Overton Funeral Home, Dysart, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or the Dysart Community Building/Park Pavilion.

Doris was very active at Zion Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School and Bible School. She was also a 4-H Leader, a member of the Women’s Benton County Extension Committee and served as an EMT with the Dysart Ambulance for many years. Doris enjoyed oil painting, gardening, sewing and her many quilt groups.
