MARVIN V. BRIGGS - Funeral services will be tomorrow at Bemidji, Minn., for Marvin V. Briggs, 73, retired managing editor of the Bemidji. Pioneer who had formerly been a staff writer for Waterloo newspapers many years ago.

He was born in Benton County. He was a general reporter at various times for both the Waterloo Daily Courier and the old Waterloo Tribune. Mr. Briggs had been a reporter in Waterloo from. 1919 through 1925.

When he left Waterloo in 1925 he went to work for the Duluth (Minn.) News Tribune; and later at the Davenport Democrat for 10 years going to Bemidji in 1937. Earlier he had been associated with newspapers at Greene and Oelwein and the Southwest American at Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. Briggs had continued to write a column, "Just Visitin'," in the Pioneer after he retired in 1966, as managing editor, a position he had occupied since 1945.
