CEDAR FALLS - Richard L. “Dick” Meyer, 88, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 14, 1926, in Dunkerton, son of David and Violet Fee Meyer. He married Norma Phillips in 1956 in Waterloo; she preceded him in death in January of 1967. He then married Marlene Moser on Dec. 5, 1968, in Galena, Ill. She preceded him in death in August of 2010.

Dick served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a service manager for over 30 years at several car dealerships in the Cedar Valley and most recently worked as a saftey director for Northstar Community Services in Waterloo, retiring in April of 2013. He was a longtime member of the WaterHawks Ski Club.

Survived by two sons, Kevin (Taslim) Meyer of Victoria, B.C., and Scott (Jodi) Allender of LeClaire; two daughters, Tanya (Jim Jackson) Meyer-Dideriksen of Oxford and Candace (Donald) Allender-Kropf of Stillwater, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Colin Mansager of Vinton, Jarrod Gonzales of Tacoma, Wash., Aaron Meyer of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kyle and Jordan Allender of LeClair, Elizabeth Kropf and Christian Kropf, both of Duluth, Minn., Katherine Kropf of Stillwater, Minn., and Reign Ackerley of Victoria, B.C.

Preceded in death by his parents; a son, D. Kelly Allender; a brother, Don; and a sister, Onalee Dinnebier.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial in Orange Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and also for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa National Guard Honors Detail.
