D. MORRIS SWINEHART.

Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Katharine Pahl Chapel in Memorial Park Cemetery for D. Morris Swinehart, 70, of Friendship Village who died there at 3:55 a.m yesterday of a heart condition. The Rev. Charles Jacobs pastor of First Congregational Church, will officiate with the Rev. Russell Blank, chaplain a Friendship Village, assisting Burial will be in Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Parrott and Wood Funeral Home after 9 a.m. today.

The family requests that memorial be given to the Katharine Pahl Chapel. The casket will not be opened at any time.

Mr. Swinehart was born October 5, 1901, in Marengo, the son of Lee and Bessie Lyon Swinehart. He married Verna Steel on August 22, 1922, in Waterloo. Mr. Swinehart originally was in the grocery business with his father and then operated the grocery department in Lauerman's department store. In 1936 he opened the first self service grocery in Waterloo, the Parkway.

Later he became associated with the Davis Brokerage Co. and managed the Waterloo office, retiring in 1966. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and Elks Club and formerly belonged to Sunnyside Country Club, Martin Lodge 624 AF & AM, Tabernacle Chapter 52, Ascalon Commandery 25 and Order of Eastern Star 128.

Surviving are his wife; one son, John of 389 Sheridan Rd.; one daughter, Mrs. Norris S. Annis of 175 Martin Rd.; and six grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
