Chester Paul Walsh, 90, a longtime Waterloo resident, died March 5, 2005, in Gig Harbor, Wash. He was born and raised in Thornburg, Iowa. Chet was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and former owner of the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. in Waterloo. While in Waterloo, he was an active member of the business community and St. Edward's Church. Chet retired to Escondido, Calif., in 1977 where he enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with his family.

Chet was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosielee; his parents, Count and Nellie; his two brothers William and Wilmer; and four sisters, Edith, Ellen, Wanda and Lois. He is survived by his wife, Verene; his sister Doris McCready of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughters Margaret Tomkins of Temecula, Calif., and Lois Holsinger of Gig Harbor; four grandchildren, Katie Hammerling, and Michael, Dana and Lara Tomkins; and one great-granddaughter, Veronica.

Chet was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and all those who loved him will miss him dearly.

A funeral Mass was held on March 11 at St. Nicholas Church in Gig Harbor. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Escondido. Remembrances may be made to St. Nicholas Church, 3510 Rosedale Street, Gig Harbor, WA 98335.
