CEDAR FALLS - Donald Eugene Farrell, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Webster City, son of Charles Edward and Lena Lenora Black Farrell. He married Carol Elizabeth Howell on Dec. 15, 1950, at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.

Mr. Farrell was a graduate of Blairsburg High School and played semi-professional baseball there, where he was known as Lefty Farrell. He worked 43 years for the Illinois Central Railroad, retiring in May of 1983 as the Regional Rate Manager.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Rebecca (Michael) Burns of Cedar Falls, Laura (Micheal) Walton of Joice, Elizabeth (Steven) Baumeister of Waukee and Barbara (Duayne) Shepard of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Charles; a sister, Julia Klaver; and a stepgrandchild.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.

A memorial fund will be established.
