WATERLOO -- Robert “Bob” Frederick Fisher, 97, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at UnityPoint Heath-Allen Hospital.

He was born Jan. 1, 1917, in Waterloo, son of Fred and Rose Murphy Fisher. He married Faye Coonrod on June 12, 1941, in Waterloo; she died Aug. 21, 2012.

Bob graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1936. He was employed at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 36 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus.

Survived by two sons, Michael (Marsha) of Adel and John (Margie) of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Mary Kay (Tom) Westemeier of Waterloo; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Berryman of Boulder Junction, Wis.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann; a granddaughter, Sandra Kay; two sisters, Lucille Fisher and Dorothy O’Connor and a brother, James F.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Bob was an avid golfer and shot his age multiple times (70-80s) -– two holes in one. He also was a very talented woodworker and his grateful kids and grandkids will have these keepsakes forever.
