WATERLOO - Gertrude F. Ransom, 94, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Sept. 6, 1910, in Denver, daughter of Fred and Marie Louise Karnatz Wiegert. She and her family moved to Waterloo in 1912, and Gertrude graduated from East Waterloo High School in 1927. She married J. Aubrey Ransom May 23, 1934, at First Lutheran Church, Waterloo. He preceded her in death in July 1970.

She worked in the offices of Hinson Manufacturing Co., Waterloo Register Co., then in the clinical records department of Schoitz Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Waterloo Chapter Eastern Star for more than 50 years and a member of the Elklets for more than 30 years. Gertrude was a charter member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church; she belonged to the Priscilla Circle, the choir and the altar committee. She also volunteered in the church office and belonged to the KEY Club.

Survived by her special godchild, Kim Hanson.

Preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Aubrey; and two sisters, Alice Bullis Hardin and Verona in infancy.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum. Friends may call for an hour before services Wednesday at the church. Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Gertrude will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
