Zilda "Helen" Froehlich, 80, of Traer, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at Sunnycrest Nursing Home, Dysart, after a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 3, 1925, near La Porte City, daughter of Jake R. and Zilda Moffitt Froehlich. At an early age she moved with her family to Traer and attended Traer School graduating in 1943. She continued her education in Iowa City where she received nursing training.

She worked with the FBI in Washington, D.C. for a short time and then returned to Traer and began work as a bookkeeper at the Traer Lumber Yard. Later she took jobs as a nurses aide in nursing homes in the Waterloo and Traer area.

Survived by a brother, Jake (Elinor) of Traer; a nephew, Robert of Savanna, Ill.; and a niece, Coleen Kelenske of Palm Harbour, Fla.

Preceded in death by a sister, Zilda Mary.

Graveside services will take place a later date at Westview Cemetery, La Porte City. There will be no visitation. Overton Funeral Home, Traer, is in charge of arrangements.
