LA PORTE CITY - Lois Jean Kerr, 71, of La Porte City, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born April 17, 1934, in Waterloo, daughter of Floyd and Avis Banfield Newell. She married Robert D. Kerr Nov. 22, 1969, in La Porte City.

She was briefly employed with Shorts Travel in Waterloo, and she was past noble dean of the Waterloo Elklets.

Survived by her husband, Robert of La Porte City; a daughter, Susan Kerr (fiance Forrest Joyner) of Ankeny; three grandchildren, Nic, Libby and Aly Bulver; a brother, Roland Newell of Minneapolis; and two sisters, Alice Leatherman and Mary Anderson, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City. Friends may call for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Her body has been cremated. Huisman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
