Viola Ethelyn Davis, 87, of Waterloo, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born June 15, 1911, in Clarke County, daughter of Stephen Andrew and Birdie Gillett Selsor. She married A. Dean Galvin on Dec. 19, 1929. He preceded her in death. She married Gael Davis on March 15, 1963. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Davis and her husband, Gael, operated Davis Variety Store in Murray, and then she worked in Des Moines until her retirement.

Survived by a daughter, Cherie James of Waterloo; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Selsor of Thayer and Edward Selsor of Osceola; and three sisters, Pauline Baker of Santa Ana, Calif., Arlene Kirkwood of Afton and Bessie Siefkas of Murray.

Preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Burton and Elmer Selsor; and two sisters, Minnie Siefkas and Mabel Swaim.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Murray, with burial in Murray Cemetery. Friends may call today at Kale Funeral Home, Osceola, with family present from 7 to 8 p.m.
