WATERLOO - Billy Joe Cheatom, 27, of 621 1/2 W. Ninth St., was found dead Dec. 18, 1998, at home, the victim of an apparent homicide, according to Waterloo police. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.

He was born Feb. 21, 1971, in Louisville, Ark., son of Eddie and Mildred Stephens Cheatom. He had been employed by Beef Products Inc., for a brief period of time.

Survived by his parents of Louisville; six brothers, David and Dennis, both of Louisville, Gary of Bradley, Ark., Willie of Dermont, Ark., and Bobbie of Toledo, Ohio; and five sisters, Gloria, Georgia Mae, Betty Ann Rose, Mary Sue and Jessie Marie Cheatom, all of Louisville.

Preceded in death by three brothers.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home, 85 Thomas St., Stamps, Ark., 71860, with burial in Old Town Cemetery, Louisville. Greer Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
