OTIS ALBERT KEMP

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Friday at Kearns-Dykeman Chapel for Otis A. Kemp, 98, formerly of 706 W. 1st St. and recently of the Colonial Manors of La Porte City who died at Schoitz Memorial Hospital at 9 a. m. Tuesday of complications incident to his advanced age. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p. m. Wednesday.

He was born in Benton County on May 21, 1868, the son of Silas and Mandana Goodell Kemp. He married Elizabeth Reiter on Sept. 13, 1900, in Omaha and she preceded him in death on the same date in 1960.

He had farmed in Buchanan County near Jesup and Independence from 1900 to 1935, when he moved to Independence. He came to Waterloo in 1952.

Surviving are two sons, Edward of Jesup and Clayton of Rt. 3, Cedar Falls; four daughters, Mrs. Chester Thompson of 706 W. 1st St., Mrs. Lon Steinbeck of 439 Belmont St., Mrs. Mildred Dreier of 915 Walnut St., and Mrs. Clyde Kipp of 1102 Williston Ave.; four brothers, Mark of 424 Dawson St., William of Littleton, and Arch and Pearl of Rowley, also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, three brothers, three sisters, and one grandson.
