CEDAR FALLS - Larry Dean Eimers, 57, of Cedar Falls, died at home Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 6, 1950, in Onslow, son of Jerry and Darlyn Schommer Eimers. He married Janet Bisdorf on Feb. 9, 1980, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Greene.

Mr. Eimers was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and received a Bronze Star for outstanding meritus service against hostile fire in Vietnam. He was a self-employed master carpenter for 40 years.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Amanda (Steve) Taylor of Haymarket, Va.; three sons, Ben of Corry, Pa., Jon of Wichita, Kan., and Luke of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Marshall and Alivia Taylor; his parents of Dike; a sister, Jennifer (Kevin) Cartee of Peosta; and five brothers, Dan (Carol) of San Diego, Dave of Greene, Mardy (Lisa) of Columbia, Mo., Jeff (Colleen) of Shorewood, Wis., and Wendell (April) of Peosta.

Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Emil and Adella Eimers; and maternal grandparents, Peter and Minnie Schommer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fredsville Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with a 1:30 p.m. graveside service at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military rites by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
