WATERLOO - John E. Lamb, 91, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab.

He was born March 19, 1914, in Malcolm, son of Harrison and Nellie Harness Lamb. He married Lucille I. Wyland Stivers Dec. 13, 1947, in Sioux City. She preceded him in death Aug. 6, 1982.

Mr. Lamb owned and operated Lambs Phillips 66 Service Station for many years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the 96th Infantry in the Pacific theater and was a lifetime member of Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion.

Survived by a son, Robert "Bob" (Lisa) of Waterloo; a daughter, Janet (Rich) Boyer of Fort Madison; three grandchildren, Mark, Joel and Rachel Boyer, all of Waterloo; a brother, Brook Lamb of Grinnell; and three sisters, Violet (Merrill) Seehorn of Ankeny, Joyce Laird of Chandler, Ariz., and Addie Gray of Hemet, Calif.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard, Harold and Delmar; and two sisters, Rachel Edsberg and Goldie Lamb.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion and Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion.
