WASHBURN - Julia E. Cooley, 70, of Washburn, died at home Sunday July 3, 2005, of natural causes.

She was born April 11, 1935, in Rochester, Minn., daughter of Walter and Esther Wacker Broten. She married John Cooley in Rochester, Minn., and they were later divorced.

Survivors include three sons, John of Minneapolis, Michael (Peggy) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tom (Roxanne Voshell) of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Sandra Risse (Robert Wright) of Waterloo and Connie (Noel) Morris of Washburn; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Walt (Jeanette) Broten of Cedar Falls, Harry (Eileen) Broten of Spring Valley, Minn., and Richard (LouAnn) Broten of Rochester; and a sister, Joyce (Richard) Dwyer of Rochester.

Preceded in death by a son, David; a brother, Stanley Broten; and a sister, Dorothy Nelson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St.Marys Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, Waterloo, and also for an hour before the services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
