James Murray, 76, of Rt. 3, died at St. Francis Hospital at 9 p. m. Thursday of an asthmatic condition and stroke.

He was born at Burt Dec 2, 1886, the son of John and Margaret Burt Murray, and was a World War I veteran. He married Nina Jorgensen Dec. 31, 1919, at Blue Earth, Minn. She died Jan 4, 1959.

Mr. Murray came to Waterloo 19 years ago from Algona and for the past 15 years was a self-employed carpenter.

Surviving are three sons, James Jr. of Rt. 4, Roger William of 130 Gilbertville Rd., and Gordon Earl on Army duty at Naples, Italy; one stepson, Gerald Major of 225 Michigan Dr., Evansdale; three daughters, Mrs. Paul Rogers of 428 Hartman Ave., and Margaret and Nina Murray of Rt. 3; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Dave of Wayland, Mo., and Pete of 2270 Byron Ave., and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel DeLapp of 1203 Sycamore St., and Mrs. Agnes Nellis, New Ulm, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two sisters.

Funeral services are pending at the Chapel of Memories.
