After a long illness of cancer of the stomach, Mrs. Herman Hue passed away last night at 9:45 at her home, 220 Center street. As she had lived in Black Hawk county and vicinity for many years, a large circle of friends mourn her death.

Caroline Theis was born Sept. 29, 1848, in Cook County, Illinois, and was married there to Herman Hue on November 24, 1867. They moved to Iowa in 1875 and settled on a farm in Mt. Vernon township, Black Hawk county, where they lived until they moved to Waterloo twelve years ago. She was a lifelong member of the German Evangelical Lutheran church and was a woman of high Christian character, devoted to her home and her church.

Besides her husband, who is an old soldier, Mrs. Hue is survived by five sons and two daughters. These are: Herman P. and John Hue, Mrs. Mary Myers and Miss Agnes Hue, Waterloo; Fred, Montana; Gus, Alberta, Can.; Louis, Horton, Kan. Two children, Mrs. Caroline McGood and Miss Bertha Hue died before the family came to Iowa. Charles and Fred Theis, brothers, reside in Illinois, as does Mrs. Albert Zimmer, a sister. There are also fourteen grandchildren.

The funeral arrangments will not be made until the arrival of the out of town relatives. The funeral will be conducted from the First Lutheran church and Rev. H. Mueller will be in charge of services.
