Police suspect foul play in the deaths of a man and pregnant woman found late Friday night in a house at 1001 Hartman Ave.

The bodies of Alonzo Nakia Quinn, 27, and Rhiannon Marie Olsen, 22, were found by police at 11:13 p.m. during a welfare check at the home, where Quinn lived. Olsen's address was 1306 Brenton Drive in Cedar Falls.

Olsen's mother called police a couple of times to report her missing, according to a family friend who answered the door at the Cedar Falls home. Cedar Falls police passed on the information to Waterloo police, who did the welfare check. The mother was told by police not to talk to the media.

County Attorney Tom Ferguson said autopsies began at 11 a.m. Saturday in Des Monies by the Iowa State Medical Examiners Office. Until results are available, Ferguson won't rule whether the incident is murder-suicide or double homicide.

Police would not comment Saturday on whether a weapon was found or if there were any signs of forced entry at the house. No other details were released. "We don't have that information yet," said Waterloo Police Sgt. Mark Langenwalter. "We're still waiting on the results of the autopsies."

Police said Olsen was several months pregnant. If the deaths are ruled homicides, Ferguson said an additional charge of feticide could be brought for the death of Olsen's unborn son. "We haven't had any contact with the family about the gestation of the pregnancy, theoretically speaking, that potentially could be an additional charge," Ferguson said.

The home is tucked into a neighborhood bordered by Falls and Ansborough Avenues. On Saturday, yellow police tape cordoned off the scene and the intersection of Hartman and Chalmers Avenues, the corner where Quinn's house is located. A police car was stationed there throughout the day.

Olsen apparently was living with her mother in Cedar Falls. A neighbor living on Brenton Drive who asked his name not be used said the mother moved into the home in the late spring or early summer. He said the daughter had moved in two or three months ago.

Olsen is a 1999 graduate of Cedar Falls High School, and was an honor-roll student. She attended junior high in Janesville, where she was also an honor roll student.

Rhiannon Olsen had reported

and burglary in August 2001.

One of the two people found shot to death in a Waterloo home Friday night had been, the victim of. a burglary and kidnapping in October, according to authorities.

The bodies of Rhiannon Marie Olsen, 22, of Cedar Falls, and Alonzo Nakia Quinn, 27, were discovered in Qiinn's Hartman Avenue home Friday night by police after Olsen's mother became concerned about her whereabouts, police said.

Dr. Dennis Klein with the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office ruled both of the deaths homicide following an autopsy in Des Moines. Quinn and Olsen died of gunshot wounds, Klein ruled. Olsen was several months' pregnant, and her unborn son, to be named Jalen Quinn, also died.

Authorities are releasing few details about the slayings and have told relatives not to talk about the crime. "It would just be inappropriate to comment at this point in the investigation. The matter is still being investigated," said Black Hawk County Attorney Thomas Ferguson.

Olsen, a 1999 Cedar Falls High graduate who recently graduated from La James Cosmetology College, reported being bound and blindfolded by burglars in her apartment in October, according to Cedar Falls police reports.

Investigators said they are looking for links between the two crimes, and Cedar Falls officers are assisting with the case. "It would be an obvious direction to pursue," said Capt. Bruce Arends of the Waterloo Police Department.

According to Cedar Falls police, Olsen had reported the burglary and kidnapping early on the morning of Oct. 5. She said three or four people had broken into the apartment at 416 Tremont St. where she lived at the time. It happened at 1 a.m. while she was alone in bed.

The intruders wrapped her wrists in duct tape and also covered her eyes, police said. The burglars ransacked the home, as if looking for something. Olsen was not injured. Cedar Falls Police Capt. Jeff Olsen said Rhiannon Olsen told police at the time she did not know what the burglars sought.

Rhiannon Olsen also reported a burglary to her home when she lived in the 200 block of Cornwall Avenue in Waterloo in August 2001. In that case, someone took $1,500 in cash, $20 in coins and diamond earrings valued at $1,200, according to the police report.

Police won't disclose the estimated time of death, but the pair could have been dead for as long as a day before their bodies were found.
