Ernest F. Lauer Sr., 68, of 905½ Washington St., died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Allen Memorial Convalescent Home; of carcinoma. He had been in ill health since last December.

He was born Feb. 6, 1888 in Reinbeck, the son of Frank and Wilhelmina Guhl Lauer. He married Rose E. Lutz in Chicago, April 29, 1917.

He came to Waterloo, in 1937 after farming near Hudson and Reinbeck and had been an employee of Cohn Bros. Inc., for the past 10 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving are four sons, Ernest Jr., 1717 Logan Ave.j G; A., 848, Whitney Ave., Ted C., 220 Brees St. and Roy, 1044 Wyandotte St.; two daughters, Mrs, Fred Sprague, Des Molnes, and Mrs. James Wagner, Richmond, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. George Monter, 411 Vaughan St., Mrs. Ernest Schmidt, 719 Gilbert St., Mrs. Fred Diedrick, Hudson, and Mrs. Gus Rudnick, Audubon; a brother, Albert, 719 Gilbert St. and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother.

The body is at O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home where funeral arrangements are pending.

Funeral services for Ernest .F. Lauer, Sr., 66, of 905½ Washington St., will be at l:30 p. m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. W. D. Getting officiating,

Mr. Lauer died Wednesday evening at the Allen Memorial Convalescent Home of carcinoma.

Graveside services will be at 3 p. m. Saturday at the Reinbeck Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church from O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home at noon.
