Benjamin Franklin Stearns, 84 of La Porte City and formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Isolation Hospital of complications incident to advanced age.

A native of Shell Rock and life resident of the community Mr. Stearns was born Aug. 11, 1870, a son of Hiram and Zeta Morgan Stearns.

A retired painter, he resided in Waterloo many years prior to going to La Porte City two years ago where he resided with sons, George and Elmer.

Also surviving are another son Walter of Bridgeport, Wis., daughter, Mrs. William Atkins, Flandreau, S. D., and 11 grand children and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p. m. at Kearns-Dykeman chapel and interment will be at Poyner Township Cemetery.
