Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Monroe, 72, of 606 Oneida St., will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Kistner Funeral Home. The Rev. George Stinson, pastor of the Payne AME Church, will officiate. The body will be taken to Gallatin for burial. Mrs. Monroe died of complications incident to advanced age Friday at 7:10 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital.

The daughter of Martin and Cassie Brooks, she was born June 29, 1882, at Gallatin, Mo. On Feb. 22, 1898, at Gallatin, she was married to Edward Monroe. He preceded her in death on Apr. 9, 1915. She had made her home in Waterloo for the past 20 years.

Surviving are four sons and two daughters, Theo Monroe, 608 Oneida St.; Bonnie Monroe, 202 Salisbury St.; Raymond Monroe of Des Moines; Forrest Monroe, 321 Dane St.; Marvin Monroe, 125 Sumner St., and Clifton Monroe, 514 Mobile St. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. Edith Reasoner of Los Angeles, Calif.
