WATERLOO - Joseph Warmuth, 90, of Waterloo, died at Covenant Medical Center Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Waterloo, son of Joseph and Kathrine Rickar Warmuth. He married Kathryn A. Secor on May 6, 1947, in Cedar Falls; she died Oct. 19, 1981.

Joseph served in the U.S. Navy as a medic during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge. He was a firefighter with the Waterloo Fire Department for 28 years, retiring in 1978.

Survived by two sons, Joseph (Sandy) of Waterloo and Craig (Tammy) of Independence; two daughters, Linda (Todd) Callaway of Baker City, Ore., and Cindy (Stan) Spence of Mount Auburn; a daughter-in-law, Audrey Warmuth of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, Dan, Mike, Kim, Kristine, Tonya, Heather, Cory and Tanya; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Mariah; a son, Jack; and a brother, Leo.

Celebration of Life services: will be planned by the family at a later date. Inurnment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Arrangements by Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the Waterloo Salvation Army.
