WATERLOO - Joseph J. Sprio, 90, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born June 22, 1923, in Waterloo, son of Carmen and Phyllis Sprio. He married Lorraine Adams on March 15, 1953, in Waterloo; she died Dec. 4, 2007.

Joseph attended Waterloo East High School and served in the U.S. Army during World Ware II in Europe. He was employed at Rath Packing Co. until retirement.

Survived by a daughter, Michelle Sprio of Waterloo; a son, Craig (Connie) Patava of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Joseph Patava of Waterloo and Kelli Patava of Washington, D.C.; and two sisters, Rose Chrasta of Cedar Falls and Milly (Marv) Multhauf of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by six siblings, Carl Sprio, Frances Neith, Kathryn Marquart, Alphonsa Parigoras, Josephine LaMendola, and an infant.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Locke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
