EVANSDALE -- Donald William Goings, 86, of Evansdale, died at his son's home Friday, Feb. 28, 2014.

He was born July 25, 1927, in Vinton, son of William and Minnie Epperson Goings. He married Mary Ann Kuhn on July 2, 1951, in Elma; she died Sept. 14, 2003.

Donald served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at Rath Packing Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1984.

Survived by a son, Nick (Sandra) of Evansdale; a grandson, Shane (Jamie) Goings of Dunkerton; four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Blake, Bryce and Katelynne; and a great-great-grandson, Isaac.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Gerald; and five sisters, Mildred Sinwell, Pearl Kies, Nellie Warm, Toots Coon and Maudie.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
