WATERLOO -- Francis E. Diggins, 84, of Rockaway Beach, Mo., formerly Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, in Hudson, Fla.

He was born April 20, 1929, in Waterloo, son of Frank and Mae Gilliland Diggins. He married Elsie V. Brandhorst on June 28, 1947, in Manchester; she died Sept. 27, 2004.

Francis graduated from Waterloo West High school in 1947. He worked at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works as a machinist for 31 years, retiring in 1978. Upon retirement, he then worked at Silver Dollar City, Branson, Mo., and in maintenance at a number of resorts in the Branson area. He was a member of Riverview Bible Baptist Church, Forsyth, Mo.

Survived by three daughters, Diane Kay Pennington of New Port Richey, Fla., Connie Sue (Michael) Frisbey of Cary, N.C., and Lucinda Mae (Roger) Lear of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pat Fuller of Kyle, Texas, and Myrna Kramer of Bellevue, Neb.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Russell.

No services will be held. A private committal will be later.
