CEDAR FALLS - Marcella M. "Sally" Carney, 98, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born April 4, 1915, in Devon, daughter of Edmond and Frances Roethler Ungs. She married Harold C. "Clair" Carney on April 4, 1934, in North Washington. He died March 5, 1996.

Sally graduated from North Washington School and was employed as a cook at the University of Northern Iowa and later at the Brown Bottle Restaurant, both in Cedar Falls.

Survived by eight sons, James "Jim" (Janet) of Waterloo, Francis (Lois) of Des Moines, Jack (Roberta) of Stockton, Mo., Tom (Debbie) of Arvada, Colo., Duane (Janice) of Unionville, Mo., Pat (Carol) of North Liberty, Gary (Linda) and Dean, both of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Anna May Gavigan, of Waterloo and Joan (David) Farus of Lafeyette, Colo.; 42 grandchildren; 101 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Ron; two daughter-in-laws, Jenny Jo Carney and Mary Lee Carney; four brothers, Clem, Dennis, Don, and Bob Ungs and one sister, Peg O’Neil; and two grandchildren, Leisa Alverson and Mary Carney.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Tuesday at St Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service, where there will be a 7 p.m. Rosary. Visitation also one hour before services at the church.
