WATERLOO - John Edsill, 64, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014.

He was born Nov. 21, 1949, in Waterloo, son of Merlin and Patricia Edsill.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Capitol Hill Christian Church.

Survived by his wife, Berla; a son, Chris (Marianne); two daughters, Hollie (Brian) Lawry and Erica (Tim) Voll; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild on the way; his father, Merlin; and three siblings, Vicky, Andi and Danny.

Preceded in death by his mother, Patricia; and a sister, Dianne.

Services: friends may visit with family from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Capitol Hill Christian Church, with burial in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel.

Memorials may be directed to Capitol Hill Christian Church in memory of John.
