Peggy Palma, 64, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Reinbeck, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, after a short battle with metastatic ocular melanoma.

She was born Nov. 10, 1949, in Cedar Falls, to Elvin and Alice Murphy Danielsen. She married Dick Palma on July 20, 1985, in Marion.

She graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1968 and the Patricia Stevens School in Omaha, Neb., in 1970. Peg worked as a software librarian for Rockwell Collins for more than 30 years. She served on the board of directors of Critter Crusaders for the last three years.

Survived by her husband; two daughters, Darla (Jay) Iverson of Ankeny and Dawn Palma of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan and Cassidy Long, all of Ankeny, and Jake Meyers of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Doug (Jill) Danielsen of Cedar Falls; two nephews, Jared (Shantel) Danielsen and Zachary (Megan) Danielsen; six great-nieces and nephews, Madisen, Dylan, Cameron, Brooklyn, Sloane and and Brier Danielsen; her dog, Bear; and many friends at Critter Crusaders, including Jan Erceg, Michelle Wood and DeAnn Brannaman, also known as Team Peg.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, with a private family burial prior to the service. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Chapel of Memories.

Peg was known for her sense of style, her honesty, generosity, love of family and animals. Her creative flair was extraordinary as was her love for all things Bling.
