CEDAR FALLS - Dorothy Deve Petersen, 94, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of pneumonia.

She was born Sept. 11, 1911, in Pierson, daughter of William and Ethel Fey. She married John H. Petersen June 30, 1932, at Rock Branch Methodist Church, rural Woodbury County. He died May 9, 1986.

Mrs. Petersen graduated from Anthon High School in 1929 and received an Iowa teaching certificate from Buena Vista College, Storm Lake. She taught in rural schools in Woodbury County for many years.

She and her husband owned and operated the Coast to Coast store in Anthon for a number of years. After selling it they worked in hardware stores in Sioux City, Moville and Le Mars.

Survived by a son, Steven (Jolene) of Independence; two daughters, Delores (Richard) Lynch of Cedar Falls and Joan (Donald) Smith of Edwardsville, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother Donald; and a grandson.

Private family services will take place Saturday at Richardson Funeral Home.
