DUNKERTON -- The Rev. Allen Thomas Rucker Jr., 54, of Dunkerton, died at home Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014.

He was born Oct. 13, 1959, in Shelbyville, Ky., son of Allen Thomas and Betty Joyce Richardson Rucker. On April 24, 1981, he married Sharon Kay Baxter in Pleasureville, Ky.

He graduated from Henry County High School, New Castle, Ky., in 1977, and then graduated from Nashville Auto Diesel College and worked in the auto industry before answering the call to ministry. The Rev. Rucker attended Boyce Bible College and then Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky., where he earned his bachelor's and Masters of Divinity degrees. He began his 16-year career in ministry at West Point Baptist Church, Matanzas, Ky., for three years, and then spent five years at Covington Baptist Church, Westport, Ky., before spending his last seven years as pastor at First Baptist Church, Dunkerton.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Jesi (Jason) McCutchen of Louisville and Melissa (Dan) Holtz of Eldridge; a son, Derek (Markie) of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven grandchildren; his mother of Pleasureville; and two brothers, Steve (Ruthie) of Bayfield, Colo., and Jeff (Teresa) of Defoe, Ky.

Preceded in death by his father.

Services: 7 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, Dunkerton, where visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Additional services will be held in Pleasureville, with burial at Defoe Cemetery, Defoe, Ky. White Funeral Home, Jesup, is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to North American Mission of the Southern Baptist Convention.
