CEDAR FALLS -- Fred J. Burke, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Mason City, son of John and Eileen Snoock Burke. He married Mary Kissel on Feb. 23, 1963, in Osage.

Fred was a machinist with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 1994.

Survived by his wife; a son, Thomas (Darci Jones) of McGregor; a daughter, Sheila Burke of Waterloo; three granddaughters, Nicole and Stephanie Burke, and Kate Burke-Luebbers; two great-grandchildren, Caiden Bailey and Jade Burke; a brother, John of Rice Lake, Wis.; and a sister, Ann Rishavy of Mankato, Minn.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; and a son, James.

Private family services are planned for a later date. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Fred was an avid snowmobiler and boater and called McGregor his second home for 16 years.
