CEDAR FALLS - Oma Fay Schmidt, 80, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Janesville, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at the Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls.

She was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Llano, Texas, daughter of Obed and Linnie Moss Ratliff. She married Lloyd Glen Schmidt on May 4, 1943, in Llano. He died Dec. 8, 1998.

Mrs. Schmidt farmed with her husband in the Janesville area until the early 1980s, when they moved to Cedar Falls. She also was a kitchen assistant for the Janesville Consolidated School System.

Survivors include two sons, John (Carol) of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jimmie (Pam) of Janesville; a daughter, Linda Schmidt of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by two brothers, S.J. and Jimmie Ratliff; and two sisters, Evelyn Hallmark and Addie Mae Wills.

Private family graveside services Monday at Oakland Cemetery, Janesville. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, is in charge of arrangements.
