HOLGER HANSEN, UNABLE TO SWIM, STEPPED IN HOLE

Funeral Services Will Be Thursday; Parents and 4 Brothers Survive

Cedar Falls. July 3.—Holger Hansen, Cedar Falls, drowned in Upper Iowa river at Decorah last evening when he stepped into a hole while wading. Hansen could swim but little.

The body was recovered soon after the accident and will be brought here today, for services on Thursday. Details of the funeral will be arranged on arrival of his father and brothers, who went to Decorah immediately on being informed of the tragedy.

Holger was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hansen, who reside on a farm seven miles southwest of here in Black Hawk Township. He had been employed in an ice cream plant at Decorah three months and previously was a student of ice cream and butter making at Iowa State college. He was 24 years old.

Surviving are his parents and four brothers: Arthur and Folmer, on the home farm; Elmer, Freeport, Ill., and Ole, Blooming Prairie, Minn.

FUNERAL OF MAN WHO DROWNED IS AT CEDAR FALLS

Many Join Final Tribute to Holger Hansen

Cedar Falls July 6.—The funeral of Holger Hansen, youngest son of Mr and Mrs. Thomas Hansen of Black Hawk Township, took place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Thursday afternoon. A large congregation joined the final tribute to the young man who drowned in Upper Iowa River near Decorah Monday night, while bathing. He stepped into a hole in the river bed, and being able to swim but a little, drowned before help could reach him.

Rev. Ottar Jorgensen, pastor, officiated at the services. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
