WATERLOO -- David E. Swanson, 76, of Waterloo, died at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, Marshalltown, Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, of natural causes.

He was born June 13, 1937, in Rochester, Minn., son of Earl R. and Sybil L. Petersen Swanson. He married Sharon Smith on June 11, 1960, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

David worked at Swiss Valley Farms for over 20 years in the loading and receiving department. Later he worked at Friendship Village for several years in the maintenance department. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Kammi (Dean) Clabaugh of Elk Run Heights; a son, Kyle of Waterloo; a grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roger of Rochester and Richard (Diane) of Ocala, Fla.

Preceded in death by a son, Kory.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with military honors by American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa Army National Guard. Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home
