Mrs. Catherine Fowlkes, 84, of 335 Irving Street, former resident of Independence, Ia., died at 4:25 p. m. Sunday at Allen Memorial Hospital, of asthma and heart complications.

Catherine Boyenizer was born on July 6, 1858 in Lake County Indiana. She was married to James Fowlkes in 1875. Her husband died in 1929.

They farmed near Dunkerton and Jesup, la., and later retired, moving to Independence, where they resided for about 25 years.

Surviving are four sons, Oscar residing in Independence; Walter and William, both of Racine, Wis. and Fred, 436½ Sycamore Street and four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Weber, Independence; Mrs. Flornce Ohl, Strawberry Point, Ia.; Mrs. James Bishop, 223 Utica Street, and Mrs. Fred Ackles. 335 Irving Street. One brother, George Bovenizer 324 Irving street, and one half-sister, of Biloxi, Miss., also survive.

Her husband, one daughter and one brother preceded her in death.

The body was taken to the Heege Funeral Home at Independnce.
