WATERLOO - Ronald A. Nisius, 59, of Jesup, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center of Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS).

He was born Dec. 21, 1948, in Waterloo, son of Donald E. and Shirley Steen Nisius. He married Tamara Hoffman on June 6, 1981, in Waterloo.

Mr. Nisius was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 2005, and was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.

Survived by three daughters, Lori Nisius of Waterloo, and Mandy (Brock) Zuck and Missy (Matt Walztoni) Nisius, both of Jesup; four grandchildren, Eric and Jeremy Lewis, and Logan and Kaleb Zuck; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Alexis Lewis; two brothers, Don M. (Linda) of Madison, Wis., and Fred (Judy) of Waterloo; and a sister, Jeani (Bill) Haines of Nashville, Tenn.

Preceded in death by his father; and his mother, Shirley Nisius-Holm.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
