WATERLOO - Ruth Marie Steimel, 71, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center of cancer.

She was born March 6, 1937 in Waterloo, daughter of Raymond and Rita Kirchoff Fenelon. She married Loren Steimel on June 18, 1960, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Mrs. Steimel worked as a nanny for Dr. Sarah Gordon and Blessed Beginnings in Cedar Falls.

Survived by her husband; a son, David (Lisa) of Waterloo; four daughters, Connie Chingren of Waterloo, Lori (Clay) Tritle of Cedar Rapids, Michelle (Pete) Weisser of Elkhorn, Neb., and Lee Ann (Mark) Havlicek of Clive; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah and Morgan Chingren, Amanda and Natalie Steimel, Alyssa, Emily and Zachary Gill, Grace and Grant Weisser, Danielle, Cameron and Lauren Havlicek; a great-grandchild, Vincent Roche; and a brother, The Rev. David Fenelon of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathy Smith; and a brother, Paul Fenelon.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's of Mount Carmel, Eagle Center, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Cedar Valley Catholic Schools in lieu of flowers.
