WATERLOO - Verlin Crook, 86, of Waterloo, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Unity Point Health-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Oskaloosa, son of Elmer and Mary Hunt Crook. He married Dorothy B. Bird on May, 3, 1945 in Oskaloosa.

Verlin graduated from Oskaloosa Senior High and then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed as a route salesmen for Sunbeam Bakery, retiring in 1988.

Survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Steven (Stephanie) and Dan (Diana), both of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several step-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Rhoads; a son, David; a grandson, Brian Crook; and three brothers, Elmer Jr., Kenneth and Dale.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial with full military honors in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to Unity Point Hospice.
