CEDAR FALLS - Larry S. Hamilton, 72, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines.

He was born March 17, 1941, in Iowa Falls, son of Lawrence and Leah Scott Hamilton. He married Barbara Lamb on Aug. 12, 1967, in Cedar Rapids.

He served in the U.S. Army in Germany in the early 1960s, and earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Mr. Hamilton was a teacher for many years at Orange High School, Central High School and Waterloo East High School. He was a member of the Iowa Democratic Party, Panther Wrestling Boosters, Black Hawk Tennis Club and Pheasant Ridge Golf Course.

Survived by his wife; a son, Marc of Des Moines; a daughter, Keri (Neil) Havlik of Marion; three grandchildren, Eli, Emma and Owen Havlik; two brothers, Steve (Julie) of Colorado and John of Hampton; and a sister, Ardith Kirchhoff of Columbia, Mo.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jay; and a nephew, Chad Hamilton.

Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, with inurnment at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the UNI Panther Wrestling Club or to the family to be distributed to other organizations.
