GILBERTVILLE -- Ella Catherine Even, 88, of Gilbertville, died at home Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Waterloo, daughter of Albert and Loretta Kies Weber. She married Anthony Even on Sept. 2, 1942, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville.

Mrs. Even was a homemaker.

Survived by her husband; seven sons, Tom (Gloria) and Jim (Mary Jo), both of Gilbertville, Harry (Marilyn), Lonnie (Sandy) and Alan (Dawn), all of Jesup, Tim (Sandy) of Evansdale and Dick (Cheryl) of La Porte City; five daughters, Linda (Howdy) Knight of Independence, Connie Bovy of Evansdale, Kay (Les) Speare and JoAnn (Dan) VanEe, both of Waterloo, and Donna (Mike) Youngblut of Jesup; 39 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, LaVerne (Janice) Weber of Gilbertville; three sisters, Norma Schares of La Porte City, Doris (Bernard) Brown of Dunkerton and LaVonne Friedly of Waterloo; and three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Weber of Gilbertville, Arlene Weber of Jesup and Judy (Terry) Ciesielski of Jesup.

Preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Ray and Anthony Jr.; six brothers, Arnold (Camilla), Leo, Ronald, Cleo, Raphael and Stanley Weber; two sisters, Magdalene (Hubert) Wirtz and Betty (Albert) Dilley; two brothers-in-law, Don Friedly and Melvin Schares; and a son-in-law, Larry Bovy.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 6:30 p.m. vigil, and for an hour before services Saturday, all at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Bosco System or the church.
