Daryl Lynn Chase, 58, passed away at home Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, in Winter Haven, Fla.

He was a mechanic in Waterloo, working many years at Big River Equipment and later at Iowa Machinery (MH Equipment). He worked as a volunteer for the Red Cross of America for many years, delivering blood to hospitals and aiding victims of tragedy. He was an avid motorcyclist, volunteering for Harleys and Hot Rods to help fund Make A Wish and spending many hours “helping at the park” for ABATE of Iowa, a national motorcycle association.

He retired to Florida full-time in 2012 and enjoyed his last years making friends, riding his Harley, boating on the lakes, and helping with neighborhood projects.

Daryl is survived by his wife, Meri Kay; two sons, Darren and Jerry of Waterloo; two daughters, Michelle Judas of Mount Prospect, Ill., and Nicholle Stone of Treasure Island, Fla.; a brother, Fred (Elise) Chase of Cedar Falls; his mother, Lois Chase of Cedar Falls; and three grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his father Clarence Chase.

A memorial will be held in Iowa this summer at a date and place to be announced later in the paper and through the “Biker Grape Vine.”
