LA PORTE CITY - Norman G. Ludwig, 88, of La Porte City, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Nov. 24, 1919, in LeMars, son of Michael and Mary Kestel Ludwig. He married Arlene Hansen on Oct. 31, 1944, in Alton.

Mr. Ludwig farmed in the LeMars area, moving to the Eagle Center area in 1959.

Survived by his wife; five sons, Roger (Rita), Robert (Lynn) and Kenneth (Samantha), all of Waterloo, Thomas (Kathy) of Dysart and James (Nancy) of Manning; two daughters, Janet (Russ) Schomberg of Austin, Minn., and Nancy (Virg) Plum of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchilden; two brothers, Herb (Agnes) of Waterloo and Dr. Clarence (Mary Lou) Ludwig of Sarasota, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son, Larry; a sister, Esther Tentinger; and two brothers, Al and Joseph Ludwig

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Cluster, St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Eagle Center, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, where there will be a 5 p.m. rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Diabetic Association.
