CEDAR FALLS - John Dzvonar, 78, of Cedar Falls, died at home Saturday, May 17, 2008, from a heart attack.

He was born July 1, 1929, in Waterbury, Conn., son of John and Alice Andrenyak Dzvonar. He married Deane Tedder on Oct. 22, 1949, in San Jose, Calif.

Mr. Dzvonar was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1946 to 1950. He was employed with John Deere, in tool design, then became a process engineer. He also taught tool and die at Hawkeye Tech.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Karen Ann (Jim) Olds of Ringold, Okla.; four grandchildren and five great-granddaughters; and a sister, Ruth Palyuk of Mishawaka, Ind.

Preceded in death by a son, John Michael; a brother, Dan; a grandson, Tyson Tyler Kern; and a great-granddaughter, Michelle Lynn Bellinger.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
