EVANSDALE - John C. "Johnny" Gleason, 50, of Evansdale, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Aug. 25, 1957, in Oakland, Calif., son of Norville and Madeline Domingues Gleason.

He was employed as a brick layer with J&J Masonry and Carl Shuler Masonry.

Survived by a son, Austin John Charles at home; his father of Waterloo; his mother of Evansdale; three sisters, Mary (Dan) Fitch of Fallon, Nev., and Helena Dahlen and Rochelle (Chuck) Held, both of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Jim (Karen) of Elk Run Heights and Ray (Sue) of Evansdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by longtime companion, Peggy Coen in October 2003; grandparents, Stell and Virgie Gleason; two uncles, Paul Ohlenkamp and Frank Domingues; and an aunt, Toni Gleason Sells.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Cedar Valley Hospice for all of their support and acts of kindness during Johnny's illness.
